Is it a good idea to visit my potential academic advisor’s laboratory or office before submitting my application?

You will no doubt have such question as whether the potential advisor’s field of research theme is similar to your research interest. We recommend that you contact the advisor yourself. Please refer to the Faculty Directory to find contact details.

Can I apply for this Graduate School and another Graduate School at the same time?

You can apply for two Graduate Schools at once, as long as you meet all the application requirements, and as long as the Entrance Examinations are not held on the same day. Please refer to the Student Application Guidelines for details regarding application dates and entrance examination dates.

Are past examination questions available for reference?

Past examination questions are available for viewing, but they may not be copied or removed. If you would like to view them, please come to the Administration Office with your photo ID.

Can I take examinations even if I have not completed the prior graduation requirements?

The Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences offers a system where a student who has demonstrated outstanding abilities in undergraduate courses may be considered eligible for entrance into Graduate School even without graduating from the undergraduate program.

After high school, I graduated from a vocational college. Am I eligible to take the entrance examinations?

Applicants who have graduated from a vocational college or other academic institution will be screened individually for application eligibility. You need to be deemed eligible before applying for the course.

I am an overseas student, and I graduated from university in my home country. Am I eligible to take the entrance examinations?

Applicants must have completed, or are expected to complete 16-year standard education in foreign countries. Applicants who have completed 15-year or less education curriculum in foreign countries are required to be screened individually for application eligibility. For details, please contact the Administration Office.

I would like to apply for a position as a research student. What is the application schedule?

The application schedule for research students is as follows:

I am a foreign student. Are there any scholarship systems that I can use?

Scholarships for privately financed foreign students have different application periods, qualifications, and amounts depending on the organizations offering the scholarships.
